As young girl growing up in Croatia and Serbia, my family moved constantly, which made it difficult for me to engage with children my age. My introverted nature led me to discover photography and I’ve looked to the art form ever since as a safe place to explore my internal emotions to find peace and solace.
Fueled by my love for the camera and my need to visualize and externalize overwhelming feelings, I began composing surreal images while in medical school. At the time, I was unfamiliar with Surrealism as a cultural movement, but have always been fascinated by physical and mental mysteries of the human body and, thus, incorporated the form into my work. My entire artistic approach serves as a therapeutic practice resulting in dreamy, surreal images that embody the unexplainable feelings and phenomena that I experience.
